Maine Historical Society meets locally for first time

SPRINGVALE — The Maine Historical Society made a little bit of local history itself when for the first time it held its annual meeting in Sanford-Springvale on Saturday, June 7.Society members met at the Sanford-Springvale Historical Museum on Main Street. Harland Eastman, the president of the Sanford-Springvale Historical Society and a trustee of the Maine Historical Society, successfully persuaded his colleagues to hold the meeting in Sanford this year. The town’s new museum — the result of renovations and a restoration of the old town hall — proved a big draw.
