Exhibit touches visitors

LEWISTON – The history of the area’s French Canadian mill workers was on display Sunday at the opening of Museum L-A’s newest exhibit, “Weaving a World.”For the volunteers, museum staff and the Bates College faculty and students who gathered oral histories and dug through old newspapers and photographs to build the exhibit, it was the realization of three years’ hard work. For many attendees, retired mill workers who toiled in the textile mills from the Great Depression on through the ’60s and ’70s, it was much more.
